It's built around a 12.2MP CCD sensor paired with a 5x optical zoom lens covering 36-180mm equivalent, which gives you reasonable reach for a camera this small. There's no image stabilization though, so steady hands matter more at the telephoto end.

The 2.7" fixed LCD with 230,000 dots is basic by today's standards, and there's no touchscreen or viewfinder to fall back on. What sets this camera apart is the waterproof build; at 121g and just 19mm thick, it's meant to go places a regular compact can't. Macro shooting gets down to 1cm, useful for close-up detail shots.

Video tops out at 720p and 30fps, saved in H.264 format, with mono audio recording. Storage runs on SD/SDHC cards since the built-in 31MB is barely enough for a handful of shots. It runs on a Lithium-Ion NP-45 battery pack rather than AAs.
